Several years ago, the internet in China began to emerge and rapidly expand. During that time, many individuals had their own blogs, utilizing either self-built systems or popular open-source platforms, hosted on their own servers. These blogs served as a platform for sharing various aspects of their work, studies, and personal lives. However, with the rise of cloud services and social media platforms, personal blogging took a backseat.
So, why did I choose to rebuild my own blog in today's digital landscape? That's a great question! Allow me to provide you with the answers.
1.Statement of Attitude and Overcoming Challenges:
By choosing to build a self-owned blog instead of relying on existing platforms, I aim to convey a particular attitude. Starting from scratch adds a level of "difficulty," representing my fearlessness in the face of challenges and my determination to forge ahead.
2.Unparalleled Freedom and Flexibility:
Having my own blog system grants me the highest degree of freedom and flexibility, allowing me to showcase the information I desire in the way I see fit.
3.Collaboration and Community:
Moreover, I can invite friends to collaborate and share their experiences on my blog, fostering a sense of community and shared creativity. Together, we can derive more joy from the process.
In China, from the perspective of content creators, the transition from Web 1.0 to Web 2.0 marked a shift from commercial companies primarily moving content online to a user-centric approach. Web 2.0 facilitated the easy and casual sharing of new content through blogging and podcasting. From an interactive standpoint, Web 1.0 primarily revolved around websites catering to users, while Web 2.0 embraced a peer-to-peer (P2P) model. Technologically, web clients became more efficient over time. As for the current buzz around Web 3.0, I won't delve into that discussion. The era when blogs flourished coincided with our Web 2.0 era, where content reigned supreme, and sharing was a delight.
By rebuilding my own blog, I can better integrate short videos (from platforms like Douyin and TikTok), videos (from YouTube), microblogs (such as Weibo and Twitter), and other content formats in a more seamless and user-friendly manner.
My blog's server is located in Poland, and the service provider has given me a ten-year timeframe. I hope to cherish this opportunity, persistently maintain my blog, and continue sharing. The essence lies in participation and sharing, and regardless of the number of readers or the quality of my writing, the content is crafted with utmost dedication.
Ultimately, the reason for rebuilding my blog is to write for my own personal fulfillment and enjoyment.
